5 Reasons to Take Your Bible to School

Your school is your mission field. Here are five reasons we think you should take your Bible on to the mission field with you.

1. It’s the best Book ever!

If you place the greatest works of fiction, literature, poetry, and knowledge on one shelf, the Bible would be better then them all.

If you place the greatest works of fiction, literature, poetry, and knowledge on one shelf, the Bible would be better then them all. The Bible is the inspired Word of God (2 Tim. 3:16). It tells the story of God’s love for and redemption of His people. It is a critical resource as we seek to grow in knowledge of the world around us.

If school is a place for knowledge, it’s a place for God’s Word.

2. It’s a Book of hope.

Look around. There are people who are hurting in your school. They wonder, Why do I exist? What is my purpose? Why is life so hard?

The best answers to these big questions are found in the pages of God’s Word. If you have your Bible handy, you can share that hope with hurting people you encounter.

But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15).

3. It is a Book of peace.

School can be stressful! When you are facing anxiety, fear, or worry, you can flip open your Bible and find glimmers of peace like:

Great peace have those who love your law; nothing can make them stumble (Ps. 119:165).

“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you” (Isa. 26:3).

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid” (John 14:27).

4. It’s an extension of who you are.

If you are an athlete, you wear your jersey to school. If you’re in band, you might have a music note on your letter jacket. So if you are a Christian, shouldn’t you find a way to express that?

I’ve heard it said this way: “Christianity is personal, but it’s not private.” That means part of following Jesus is sharing our faith with others. If we are truly obsessed with knowing and living God’s Word, an easy way to show it is by carrying our Bibles with us.

5. It’s a conversation starter.

Do you want to share Christ with the people in your school, but you’re not sure how to start the conversation? Carrying your Bible is an easy, nonthreatening way to make yourself available to share your faith. When people ask you about your Bible, you’ve got an on-ramp to share why you follow Jesus Christ.

Carrying your Bible is an easy, nonthreatening way to make yourself available to share your faith.

I know that you want to be girls who stand for God’s truth! (I love that about you.) One way to do that is to carry your Bible to school. Whaddya say? Can you think of more reasons to stand for truth by bringing your Bible to school?
