April Fools’ Day

Your shoelace is untied.

There’s a spider on you!

Let me get the “sugar” for you.

Today is all sorts of fun for kids—and adults—who like to pull pranks. It can be super fun to trick someone and then shout, “April Fools’!”

People who study history have found that April Fools’ pranks were already a tradition in Europe over three hundred years ago.

One day of fun is, well, fun. Living your whole life as a fool is, well, foolish. King Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, tells you how to not be a fool: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. Stubborn fools despise wisdom and discipline. My son, listen to your father’s discipline, and do not neglect your mother’s teachings, because discipline and teachings are a graceful garland on your head and a golden chain around your neck” (Proverbs 1:7-9).

Start by learning how to obey God and listen to your parents. When you turn away from them, “the parent of a fool has grief, and the father of a godless fool has no joy” (Proverbs 17:21). That is no joke.

Chomp on this!
