If ever the Church of Jesus Christ needs salty believers, then it is in these days of extreme compromise.
The Word of God tells us very clearly in Matthew 5:13: “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavour, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.”
How do we remain salty then?
Well, it is quite simple, just by spending time in the presence of God, that is, by having good quiet times each morning.
You see, if you and I live a compromised lifestyle, then it will be impossible to have a genuine quiet time with God each day. Because He is a Holy God, He cannot and will not have communion with someone who persists in bending the rules!
So in order to remain salty, we need to spend time in the presence of Jesus. And the only way that we can have worthwhile dialogue with God is to repent of compromise and to obey His statutes. Then we shall remain salty and full of flavour.
Remember the bottom line is this: “People don’t have to like you, but they must respect you.”
