Bigger than the Grand Canyon?

The Grand Canyon isn’t just grand. It’s ridiculously enormous. The national park covers 1.2 million acres, which probably doesn’t mean anything to you, but that would be 19,200,000 tennis courts. Your mind can’t even picture that can it? If you rode a raft down the Colorado River, which runs through the base of the Grand Canyon, it would take you two weeks to get through.

At its deepest point, the canyon is 6,000 feet to the top. That’s over a mile. To get to the bottom and back takes two days.

How wide is it? At one point it is 18 miles across. You still can’t really picture that, can you? A one-way trip from the North Rim to the South Rim would take you three days on foot.

Even describing how big it is still doesn’t help you picture it, right? Our minds just can’t comprehend something that big until we see it. Sounds a lot like God’s love. You can’t know or fathom God’s love on your own. But when Christ lives in you, when you see God’s love in a person, then you start to get it.

Ephesians 3:17-19 describes it: “Then Christ will live in you through faith. I also pray that love may be the ground into which you sink your roots and on which you have your foundation. This way, with all of God’s people you will be able to understand how wide, long, high, and deep his love is. You will know Christ’s love, which goes far beyond any knowledge. I am praying this so that you may be completely filled with God.”

You have a Grand God.
