Bright Future

Shanta is a student of Grade 5 and dreams of becoming a doctor. In her class, the majority of students are girls; a decade ago hardly a single girl was found in schools in Birol in northern Bangladesh. Her school is one that World Vision constructed and supports.

Like Shanta, many children of the area are getting the light of education in those schools. Parents like Mukta  are now aware of child rights. They stand against injustice and malpractices of the society including child marriage, child labor, and dowry.

Mukta is determined to protect her daughter from marriage before the age of 18. Although Shanta is a child of a rickshaw puller who earns little, she has confidence that one day she can reach her dream.
