God was looking for someone to take His message of love and truth to the people. He asked, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
Unlike excuse-making Moses and Jeremiah, Isaiah’s response was immediate. You can almost see his hand shoot in the air. He said, “Here am I. Send me!”
Here am I. Isaiah was available. He didn’t need to check his calendar or planner to see if he could fit a sending into his schedule. He was available to go wherever God needed him to go and ready to serve in whatever way was required.
Send me! Isaiah was willing. There was no hesitation, reluctance, or procrastination. He didn’t keep quiet in hopes that someone else would volunteer. He was willing to do and say whatever God asked of him.
Did he know what this would mean for him and his family? Did he have any idea what he was stepping into or what toes he would step on? Did he entertain thoughts of success, glory, and prophet perks?
If he did, those thoughts would’ve been silenced before he took one step into his commission. As soon as Isaiah responded with willingness, God warned that this task would not be easy. People would oppose him, refuse to listen, and only a remnant would repent and return to the Lord. Yet Isaiah was willing to be sent. Why?
Because he saw the Lord! Isaiah saw a vision too big for words! Read and try to picture Isaiah 6:1-8! When Isaiah saw his sin and his Savior, he was never the same. The message that changed him was the message he was eager to bring to the people. With eyes fixed on Jesus instead of self or circumstances, he was ready and willing to be sent!
God is still looking for messengers He can use to bring His message of love and truth to the people. Like Isaiah are we willing to open our hearts and hours to His sending? Like Isaiah are we willing to go, even to a people who may shut their ears and eyes to God and His message?
When you think of being His messenger, where are your eyes fixed?
