Build God’s Kingdom

Do you play Minecraft? If you do, then you know that it’s all about breaking blocks and building things. When the game first came out, people built to protect themselves against nighttime monsters, but then people started using their imaginations to work together to build things. My favorite is Creative, where you get as much stuff as you need. You can fly, and you are never hungry or sick.

In God’s version of Minecraft, he wants you to work together -- not to build mansions, houses, or gardens, but to build his kingdom. Really! “As a skilled and experienced builder, I used the gift that God gave me to lay the foundation for that building. However, someone else is building on it. Each person must be careful how he builds on it” (1 Corinthians 3:10).

You might think it’s a big job, but it really isn’t. Just like in Creative, God gives us the stuff we need—even unlimited courage and joy—to spread his Word and build his kingdom.

While we build here, remember that Jesus is building a home in heaven for us where we will have everything we need. We will never be hungry or sick again... We just won’t be able to fly.

Chomp on this!

How old do you think you have to be to build God’s kingdom?

How can you be creative and build God’s kingdom with other people?

Dear Lord, bless us as we build your kingdom. Amen
