Can It Get Any Better?

“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person’s failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him” John 3:16 (MSG)

For a lot of people in today’s world, the question is probably not “can it get any better?”, but more so “can it get any worse?”

The answer to both is yes.

Whatever assails us in the negative can certainly get worse, because everything in this natural life is tending towards decay. I once heard my husband teach, “anything left to itself tends towards decay or deterioration” – a team needs leadership, a vision needs stirring, a house needs repair, teeth need brushing and a sweaty body needs a bath.

However the God I know and love, the God I see evidenced in the Bible and in the lives of so many I observe, is a GOD OF LIFE.

He came to give life and life in abundance … and the kind of life He offers begets life, inspires life and promises life. So the answer to the question “can it get any better than this?” is also YES!

The life we are all born into isn’t perfect or fair, and that’s why Jesus Christ came. He didn’t have to, but He did. He could have chosen to not be sent. He could have chosen to walk away from the garden. He could have chosen to take himself off the Cross – but He didn’t. And He didn’t because He didn’t want any of us to not know the Life, Peace and Presence of the Father.

I pray that each and every one of us reading (who have tasted of this Life) will increase in devotion and commitment to see others enter also.

And if you are reading and thinking how can I find this life … it’s as easy as an honest prayer. You don’t have to be eloquent or perfect, just honest. And if you are serious about moving forward, ask Him to also lead you to a healthy church where you can be encouraged to grow in your knowledge, faith and experience of Christ. If you are genuine He will help you begin the most amazing adventure of your life that just gets better and better and better … And just when you think “it can’t get any better than this” – IT DOES!!
