Scripture

Important Word to Consider

cleanses-

KJV Dictionary Definition:

cleanse- verb

To purify; to make clean; to remove filth, or foul matter of any kind, or by any process whatever, as by washing, rubbing, scouring, scraping, purging, ventilation, &c.; as, to cleanse the hands or face to cleanse a garment; to cleanse the bowels; to cleanse a ship; to

It is important to note that the blood of Jesus is much better than any man-made primer. Man-made primer will only cover old mistakes.

The all-powerful blood of Jesus will actually ERASE our past mistakes! Once we are covered by Jesus, our old sins are no longer in existence. Our surface does not only appear to be clean, we literally are CLEAN down to our core!

Let's consider this beautiful old hymn:

Nothing but the blood of Jesus

What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Oh, precious is the flow,
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,

Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

For my pardon this I see,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
For my cleansing this my plea,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Nothing can for sin atone,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
Naught of good that I have done,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

This is all my hope and peace,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.
This is all my righteousness,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

There is truly NOTHING like the blood of Jesus!

In this devotion , we are going to compare it to artist's gesso, but just to be clear, there literally is NOTHING that has or will ever be in existence that has the cleansing power of Jesus' blood!

The blood of Jesus t is the only gesso that can ever fully cover the canvas of our life.

Thoughts

Our life is like a canvas.  God desires for each one of us to become a unique and beautiful work of art. But, because of our daily sin, our canvas become dusty and smudged- literally covered in filth.

But, the good news is -we each have the opportunity to accept a second chance! Like a painter's canvas, our lives can be wiped clean and refurbished! It is not too late for any of us to become something new and beautiful!

Covering

In order to hold a new picture, a used canvas must first be completely covered with a primer of some sort. Physically we must do the same. We must be completely covered before we can hold a new "life picture".

There is only ONE way to cover all of our sins and become white again, and that is through the blood of Jesus! The blood of Jesus is our primer!

Will we choose to be covered today?
