Daily Reminders

ENCOURAGE ONE ANOTHER DAILY, AS LONG AS IT IS CALLED “TODAY,” SO THAT NONE OF YOU MAY BE HARDENED BY SIN’S DECEITFULNESS. - HEBREWS 3:13

Everyone needs reminders about their health. Doctor's offices hang posters to draw attention to healthy habits while patients wait for their appointments—how many minutes of exercise to do, how often to schedule check-ups, the right vitamins to take. Though the Bible doesn't have posters, it does remind us how to stay spiritually healthy.

As hard as it is sometimes, sharing our lives with a community of believers is essential to our spiritual health. Hebrews 3 commands us to encourage each other daily, reminding each other of our hope in Christ. Otherwise, we may forget our Savior and turn away from Him in the face of life's difficulties, futilely looking for help elsewhere. Godly encouragement isn't just kind words; its proclamation of truth protects and restores heats in danger of faltering.

Sometimes it's extremely hard to find the right words to reassure a hurting friend. We all probably recall a time when life was falling to pieces and we weren't eager for a mini-Bible lesson. However, be brave and trust the Spirit; speaking the truth to others as lovingly as we can is a holy duty, a labor of love (Ephesians 4:15). Finally, encouraging others protects us as well—when we share God's goodness and grace with another believer, we remind ourselves of the faithful Lord we love and trust.

Let's pray:

Father God, let my mouth be filled with encouraging words from You each day. Thank You that You display Your love though believers' love for one another. Amen.
