“A friend always loves” (Proverbs 17:17).
At your age, there can be so much drama, can’t there? You know what I’m talking about. Meghan won’t play with you because you were talking to Sophia, who is hanging out with Maria lately. Or maybe you don’t want to play on the swings with Jadyn and Katie, so they tell you that they don’t want to be around you anyway. By the end of the day, when you get in the backseat of your car, you just start crying. It’s just so hard!
I’m not sure it makes you feel better, but adults can get caught up in drama too. The apostle Paul ended up writing a letter to people who lived in a town called Thessalonica because the drama there was so bad. “We hear that some of you are not living disciplined lives. You’re not working, so you go around interfering in other people’s lives. We order and encourage such people by the Lord Jesus Christ to pay attention to their own work so they can support themselves. Brothers and sisters, we can’t allow ourselves to get tired of doing what is right” (2 Thessalonians 3:11-13).
Drama simply means you are interfering in other people’s lives and stirring up trouble. Your whole life there will always be people who don’t mind stirring up trouble. So this is a great time to practice how to handle it. Be disciplined. Stay focused on your homework, on reading a good book, on becoming a better artist.
Look for a friend and be a friend who does what is right, who always loves.
