Don’t Forget to Pray

When you hear about God’s armor do you picture yourself all alone? The part about being a soldier is that you aren’t alone. You are part of an entire army that believes that no one gets left behind.

What’s different about this army is that you get to talk to the Commander of the entire army anytime you want about anything you want. God invites you to “pray in the Spirit in every situation. Use every kind of prayer and request there is. For the same reason be alert. Use every kind of effort and make every kind of request for all of God’s people” (Ephesians 6:18).

So now that you are fully dressed for battle, remember to be part of the army of Christ. You are attached to them. The God of the entire universe is the power source for his army. Talk to him. Use the power of God who answers prayer to protect yourself and others and to praise him.

It doesn’t matter how you pray. You can whisper or shout, you can sing or talk, you can keep your eyes open or closed, you can fold your hands or hold someone else’s hand or raise your hands to heaven, or you can sit or stand or lie down.

You can pray long prayers or quick ones, morning or night. It doesn’t matter. Just pray, trusting that God loves to hear your prayers and is excited to answer them.

Today, make up your own prayer. Here are some ideas:

  • Thank God that the Holy Spirit lives in you, encouraging you to pray.
  • Pray for God’s strength to be alert.
  • Talk to God about the people in your life who need his strength, encouragement, or peace.
