Don’t Get Tired

Sometimes you just want to misbehave, don’t you? That’s because it is exhausting to follow the rules every single day. You want to give in to all the temptations that tell you not to be kind or not to treat others with respect.

The apostle Paul wrote a letter to some Christians about two thousand years ago because they were tired too. He encouraged them—and he encourages you—“We can’t allow ourselves to get tired of living the right way. Certainly, each of us will receive everlasting life at the proper time, if we don’t give up” (Galatians 6:9).

If you’re looking for how to live the right way, here are a few ideas:

Listen to your parents.

Obey your teachers.

Listen to your grandparents—even if you’ve heard the story before.

Give money from your lemonade stand to help the family who lost their house.

Write a thank-you letter.

In Mark 9:41, God says even the smallest act of kindness is living the right way: “I can guarantee this truth: Whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ will certainly not lose his reward.”

By the way, you don’t do these things because you have to. These don’t make God love you more. You do these things simply because this is why God made you—to share the love of Jesus and bring him glory. With the power of the Holy Spirit living inside of you, you don’t get tired.
