But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired. Isaiah 40:31 (AMP)
The word wait in Hebrew is KAWA, which means “entwining.” Imagine two ropes being braided into each other, so that in the end, you don’t know where one starts and the other one ends. Entwining our eyes with our Father’s eyes is what enlightens our entire being! Which is exactly what the word KAWA in Hebrew means in Isaiah 40:31: They who entwine with the Lord’s thoughts mount up with wings like eagles! We are wired by design to entwine!
When you go through a time where you have to be patient and wait for things to change, it’s hard. I know this frustration first hand. Your mind throws tantrums, and you feel like you are walled in and left forgotten. These are very real human emotions. I remember crying to God about my circumstances one day, feeling very sorry for myself. Then my eye caught this verse in John 14:27 (AMPC): “Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.” I immediately understood that it’s up to me. In that moment, I literally got up and decided to dry my tears and focus on God’s goodness.
When we change our perspective like that, we KAWA. We entangle ourselves with God and His goodness and grace in our lives. We lock eyes with God, and we are filled with faith, hope and expectation. We become STRONG. I always journal my thoughts when I have a little breakthrough like this.
