Freedom From Self

Our enemy is not so much the devil as it is self-centeredness. The great apostle Paul had this problem, suffering with this devilish disease called self-centeredness.

He was a man who actually talked with Jesus face to face when he was knocked off his horse while on his way to Damascus to persecute the believers living there. Yet he too, just like us, struggled with the flesh.

He says in Romans 7:19, “for the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice”. Then this blessed man of God goes on to say in Romans 7:24, “O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?”

My dear friend, if you have been in despair lately because you feel that you are not winning the battle over this monster called self, be of good cheer because there is a way out, a way to victory through Christ Jesus!

The same apostle said, in the letter to the Galatians, 2 :20, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me”.

Therefore, you and I should do exactly the same. If Christ lives within us, then there is no room for the flesh, and we have the victory.
