Get Some Hygiene!

He went on: “What comes out of a man is what makes him ‘unclean’.  For from within, out of men’s hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly.” Mark 7:20-22

Think

Do you bathe on a daily basis? That is, do you read God’s Word, and let it cleanse you spiritually every day? We tend to take better care of our outward appearance by bathing daily, brushing our teeth and fixing our hair. We take pride in how we look. We spend lots of time and money making our outward appearance look appealing. However, what Jesus has said over and over in Scripture is that what’s on the outside isn't as important as what’s on the inside. It’s our hearts He is most concerned about.

Jesus emphasizes in Mark 7:20-22 that all of these filthy things we let into our hearts contaminate us. Do some housecleaning today, and get rid of the contaminants invading your heart. In other words, get some hygiene!

Pray

Apply Scripture to your prayers, something like this, using Psalm 10-12. “Lord, create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from Your presence, Oh Lord. Take not thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and renew a right spirit within me”

Act
