As students try to work through an assignment, they start working their way up to the teacher’s desk. The comments sound something like this: “I don’t get it!” or “I don’t understand this question!” or “How am I supposed to do this?” or “What do I do now?”
They know that the teacher has the manual, which has all the answers. They know she can help them figure out their problems.
As you walk through this world, you have some questions too. Should I tell on my friend who stole his sister’s money? Does God hate me if I don’t like going to church? How do I talk to my friends who are picking on my classmate? Why do I feel so lonely?
God, the smartest teacher of all time, wants you to come to his desk. The Bible is his manual and has the answers you need.
Through his Word, God takes your hand and guides you as you go through your day. He gives you promises that he will be with you. The stories you read remind you of how powerful he is. When you just can’t understand why things are happening, he gives you encouragement to face your tough questions.
Go to the Teacher. He has the answers.
Then, like King David, you get to say, “Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path” (Psalm 119:105).
