God Is with You

The end of the school year was always my favorite time. It was the end of something I’d been doing for a whole year. I had small worries about next year’s teacher, or I was excited because I might meet a new kid. During the summer months, I’d miss seeing my friends every day, so when the next school year started, I would be happy to go back. What didn’t occur to me until my last few weeks of middle school was that most of the people I had seen every day would no longer be in my classes in high school—or even at the same school!

I bet you know what that’s like. Moving from elementary school to middle school, from grade school to high school, or moving to a completely different school in a different state is scary. We all have to do it.

Then I remembered that God will always be with me. No matter how stressful or difficult my life gets as things change, he will always be by my side. Even though I may be afraid of change, God has promised that he will never leave me. When Jesus moved from earth back to heaven, he promised the disciples, “Remember that I am always with you until the end of time” (Matthew 28:20).

That promise is for us too.

Dear heavenly Father, we know that you have promised to be with us. Please help us remember your promises in every situation. In your name we pray, Amen.
