God’s Command

You do have a command for today and this one might sound familiar: “Jesus answered him, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and most important commandment. The second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself’” (Matthew 22:37-39).

Some days when you’re wondering how to live your life, Jesus has a pretty simple list:

  1. Love God.
  2. Love other people the way you care for yourself.

In fact, Jesus’ list is pretty awesome and pretty easy. It doesn’t have to be confusing or hard. Today—and every day—God’s command for us is to march forth . . . and love.

Chomp on this!

We love God because he loved us first. What characteristics of God did you love and appreciate most today—maybe his compassion or justice, his peace or his joy, his strength or his power?

Create your own prayer. Thank God for his love. Tell him what you love about him. Ask him for strength to love more people.
