God Watches Over You

What do you want to be when you grow up? (Feel free to answer now, if you’d like.)

Do you ever get sick of people asking you that?

I mean, really, you have no idea what your future looks like, do you? Still, don’t you think it would be nice if God sent you an e-mail or a text telling you? In his Word, not an e-mail, God reminds us that we don’t have to worry about anything in our future—and anything in our lives right now. He already accomplished living a perfect life (so you can take credit for that), dying a painful death (so you don’t have to), and rising from the dead (so you can live with him forever).

“Don’t ever worry and say, ‘What are we going to eat?’ or ‘What are we going to drink?’ or ‘What are we going to wear?’ [Or even ‘What am I going to be when I grow up?’] Everyone is concerned about these things, and your heavenly Father certainly knows you need all of them. But first, be concerned about his kingdom and what has his approval. Then all these things will be provided for you” (Matthew 6:31-33).

The God who has already taken care of your biggest need—choosing you to be his own child—will take care of your smaller needs. He knows what your future looks like.

The next time someone asks you, you can say, “I don’t know, but I know that God will take care of me.”
