Godly Women, Part 2

Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. Proverbs 31:11-12 NIV

Wives, can your husband trust you? Oh, I realize what you are probably thinking. “Ron, you don’t know what you are talking about. I do ten times what my husband does around this house. He doesn’t have a clue how much I do.” I understand that. I’m not talking about how hard you work around the house. I’m talking about trust. Can your husband trust you?

Can he trust you to always speak the best of him? Can he count on the fact that you will not “bad mouth” him to your family or to your friends? Can he trust that you will always respect him, even when he doesn’t perform as well as you would want him to? (He isn’t prince charming like you thought he would be, is he?) Can he trust you to speak kindly to him, and not to berate him, especially in front of others? Can he trust that you want nag him until he does what you want? Can he trust that you always have his best interest at heart?

I’m not asking, either, if respecting your husband is the easiest thing to do. I’m sure it will not be at times. I fully believe, however, that God has called the wife to the role of admiration for her husband. Men need respect more than anything else from their wives.

Show me a man who is greatly admired by his wife, and I’ll show you a man who will strive hard to please her! Are you trying to produce that response in your husband?
