How God Reveals His Faithfulness in Our Lives

Whether we're conscious of it or not, we all believe in someone or something to "hold us up" inside. When that person or thing comes through for us, then life is good! But when that person or thing doesn't come through for us, then we experience a sense of anxiety, dissatisfaction, and ultimately despair.

But the truth is, there isn’t anyone or anything that will come through for us 24/7 – except for God Himself.

God is the only one who is 100 percent faithful – to His Word, His promises, His people, and His character – because He cannot be otherwise. His faithfulness is intrinsically part of who He is!

God is faithful to His people and His Spirit is always trustworthy.

God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? (Numbers 23:19)

God is not like humans who are prone to make mistakes, lie and change their minds. As an infallible and perfect being, He is faithful in all of His ways.

Interestingly, the best times we experience God’s faithfulness in our lives is when we’re weak, we’re tempted, and when we sin.

God is faithful even when we’re tired and we don't want to do something even when we know it’s the right thing to do. He’s faithful even when something is demanded of us and we don’t have anything to give. Actually, that’s often when God shows up the greatest.

The Apostle Paul, the most dynamic Christian who ever lived pleaded with God to take away the “thorn” in his side. In Paul’s weakness, God answered his prayer and said, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.”

In response, Paul said: Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. (2 Corinthians 12:9)

We so often think that God is for us when we’re strong and feeling close to him, and we unconsciously believe that He isn’t for us when we’re struggling and weak. But just the opposite is true.

God also reveals His faithfulness when we’re being tempted.

When we’re struggling with temptations, it’s easy to think that our struggle is unique and no one else is going through what we’re going through. It’s during these times we often isolate and move away from God and others. But we don’t have to suffer alone.

God will always provide a way of escape. And he will often use other people in our lives to help us.

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. (1 Co. 10:13)

But if we do sin, God longs to show us His faithfulness then too.

When we blow it – like big time – and we know it’s wrong, our natural reaction is to run and hide. We feel so bad and ashamed.

But God promises that if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)

Do you really believe and trust God’s word that He is faithful to forgive you?

I’ve known people who for decades have said, “I know that God has forgiven me, but I can’t forgive myself.” But what they’re really saying is, “God sent His son to pay for my sin, but that wasn’t enough.” That’s a huge insult to the God of the universe!

God is faithful when we’re weak, tempted, and when we sin. If we confess and agree in our hearts and bring our sin with a humble spirit before the Lord, he will forgive us and cleanse us.

Be encouraged today: You can experience God’s faithfulness! Even if you have been faithless, God can be faithful to you.
