In the Shadow of the Cross

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.” Ezekiel 36:26-27

Think

Abandon the sin in your heart and continue to give it to God to deal with. Take everything that you have read in Scripture this week about hypocrisy and criticism, and choose on a daily basis to live in the shadow of the cross. When you do, confession happens, cleansing happens, truth-telling happens, and life-change happens.

Everything that Jesus overcame, we have the power to overcome. He made the way for us to live a sin-free life. Deposit the Word of God into your heart, let it cleanse you, and be mindful of what you allow back in.

Jesus cares more about what’s in our hearts than what is on the outside. When we criticize others, we are criticizing someone that God loves. He doesn't want us to be hypocrites. Now that He has shown us the truth, it is our responsibility to own it.

Pray

Thank God for showing you what’s in your heart and how to deal with it. Ask Him to continue to minister His truth to you, and to show you how to overcome every temptation of sin.

Act

Start living that hypocritical-free life. Use your life as a source of hope and truth as others see you living out a meaningful and true relationship with God. Use each opportunity and interaction you have to point others to Christ and to get them involved in the church
