Into the Wind

It’s easy to feel beaten down by the forces of life. Nearly every day, we encounter some kind of resistance. It may be as systemic as a cultural bias or as personal as a sleepless night, but it’s oppressive however it comes. We get tired of running against the wind.

We need a change of perspective on that. The wind isn’t our problem; it’s our opportunity. Pilots prefer to take off into the wind because the wind gives the airplane its lift. The resistance raises them higher; it becomes the mechanism for rising above. It’s our chance to soar.

Refuse to live under your circumstances and insist on rising above them. If the cultural current is flowing against you, let it raise you to a higher level. If adversity is forcing you down, look for ways to stand on top of it. Count on the biblical assurance that by faith in Christ, you are seated with him in heavenly realms (Eph. 2:6; Col. 3:1-4), even as your feet walk this earth. Live from that higher perspective, and the wind will be forced to lift you up. What looks like a crisis is really your opportunity to soar higher than ever.
