Jesus Wants You to Change the World

Jesus wants you to change the world.

That’s not just a cute t-shirt slogan or quote for your Facebook wall. It’s not just a theory. I believe that Jesus literally wants you, yes you, to change the world. How do I know?

Because He said so Himself.

“Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshipped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matt. 28:16–20).

Jesus’ life and death is the greatest story ever told. God comes to earth as a baby. He raises the dead, heals the sick, gives sight to the blind. He assembles a rag tag bunch of disciples. He dies in our place. He rises from the dead. Defeats death. Paves a way for us to be with Him forever.

And then . . .

In the big cinematic finish, Jesus says, “Go!”

Who Me?

Jesus wants you to change the world.

He wants you to make disciples. He wants you to teach people about Him. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you’re from, how old you are (or how young), what kind of family you have, what you’re good at, what you’re not good at, if you have the spiritual gift of evangelism or not . . .

Jesus, says “Go!”

So, why aren’t we?

Gulp!

Girls Too Busy for God

There are lots of reasons why we don’t go and make disciples, but as I interact with young women, one specific reason keeps popping up.

Busyness.

In fact, everywhere I look, I seem to find girls who are too busy for God. Doing something for Him is something they plan to do “some day” but for now, there’s homework and sports and youth group and family stuff and getting into a good college . . .(You get the idea!)

In fact, I’m convinced that many of you are secretly asking this question: “How can I do big things for God when so much of my day is spent just trying to survive business as usual?”

I get it. Sometimes I feel like I have to paddle with all of my strength just to make it through the day. But Jesus knew all that would be on my plate, and He still assigned me the huge and thrilling task of telling others about Him.

With that in mind, where is Jesus asking you to go and tell others about Him this week? What’s keeping you from changing your world?
