“The spiritual nature produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control” (Galatians 5:22,23).
“He hit me!”
“Well, she hit me first!”
“Well, he pushed me.”
“Well, she ruined the Lego house I built!”
In kid logic, if someone ruins your stuff, then you get to ruin theirs. Or at least make them pay for what they did. (To be fair, adult logic often works the same way.)
God’s logic couldn’t be more different. “Make sure that no one ever pays back one wrong with another wrong. Instead, always try to do what is good for each other and everyone else” (1 Thessalonians 5:15).
God’s way of dealing with people doesn’t often make sense to humans, though.
Christian kindness means watching out for other people. It means being kind to other Christians—maybe the people in your school or church or neighborhood. And it means being kind to those who don’t know Jesus.
Why? For the same reason God is kind to you. “Don’t you realize that it is God’s kindness that is trying to lead you to him and change the way you think and act?” (Romans 2:4).
Be kind and lead others to Jesus too.
