Message in a Bottle

On a family vacation to the beach I was enlightened by a new sense of wonder around me. The sunlight by day and the stars by night glistening upon the ocean waters. It was a breathtaking sight and I wanted to capture it and tuck it safely within a pocket of my heart. I could hold these memories close and the reflection of them could be revisited along with the cherished memories that our family made while soaking up the Texas sun.

The paved road came to an end and the entrance to the sandy beach began. 22 miles of seashore to be exact from the beginning to the end of the beach. The sandy shore was our road for 4 days back and forth upon the beach and oceanfront view was on one side and the bay was on the other. Water surrounded us on both sides. We felt as though we were the only ones on the beach and at times we may have been. We could drive miles and miles without seeing anyone. A vacation getaway to remember.

One afternoon we made a stop on the seashore to build sandcastles and to do some beach combing to pick up seashells. My son would hand me the prettiest pink-hued seashells to add to our collection. We stumbled upon a green glass bottle, and my thoughts were to write a message and place inside. So that is what we did. His letter was priceless. He wrote a letter to Jesus. He said, “Thank you for loving us!” So simple yet so full of depth. We each wrote our letters and placed them inside the bottle. We sang the catchy tune… I hope that someone gets my message in a bottle.. yeah. We said a prayer over our messages. My older son threw the bottle as far out in the ocean as he could. We drove away and wondered if anyone would actually open the bottle and read the words we had written.

The next day as my husband was driving down the beach, I reached over to grab my Bible. I began to think of the message I had written on paper and placed in the bottle. He stopped for a moment to check something in the back of the truck. As he did, I opened my Bible and began to read one verse. I glanced over at the waves and saw a very small bottle washing up on shore. It wasn’t very old and still had the label on it, so I knew it had not been there very long. I was amazed and shouted out loud… SERIOUSLY!!! I jumped out and took a quick pic. The amazement was because I had just written a blog the week before and had posted that very day about reading a verse in Scripture, and it was like a surge of energy similar to a 5-hour energy boost.

Guess what the bottle that washed upon the shore was? Yep!!! A 5-hour energy bottle, berry flavor. It was still sealed and had not even been opened yet. Label still intact. Wow!! That was confirmation. The verse that I was reading was like a boost of energy. Way better than any energy drink this world has to offer. No energy drink can even come close to the power and energetic boost that God’s word can give.

So if you are in need of an energetic boost, a surge of hope or some extra pep in your step… I encourage you to try this. Turn to the scriptures. A message in a bottle that will satisfy your every need. It will last way longer than 5 hours and you can drink in as much as you like with no side effects. It is guaranteed to last! And you can keep drinking more and more of God’s Word for your extra energy boost. This surge is sure to get things in motion for you.

Here are some verses (energetic boosts) to get you going…

So before you run to the fridge to grab that Red Bull or 5-hour energy drink, go for a good dose of energy in the Word. You will be so happy you did, and you will love the lasting results. A little bit goes a long way! A lot goes even longer! No matter the intake, it will stay with you and bring lasting encouragement to your heart. And that boost of energy will help you make it through your day as well as the next. Try it and see.
