Mystery Solved: Life Is All About Jesus

“I know something you don’t know!” Little kids love to have insider information, and even more to rub it in the noses of their friends. Sometimes we keep that trait into adulthood. There is plenty about God that remains a mystery to us, but some things have been made abundantly clear, such as the fact that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world.

In the church in Colosse, the Gnostics were trying to persuade believers that only those who possessed a special, mystical knowledge revealed to them by God would be able to understand His plan and be saved. They were intellectually and spiritually arrogant and loved to tout the “I know something you don’t know” line. Paul wrote his letter to the Colossians to make one thing abundantly clear, and that is that God has been abundantly clear – the mystery of his will is revealed in Jesus who was offered for all and who can be known by all.

In other words, sitting around debating about mysterious doctrinal and prophetic secrets is pointless. Paul put it like this: “I want them to have complete confidence that they understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ Himself.” (Colossians 2:2 NLT) Paul was directly referencing the rumors of the Gnostics that they alone understood God’s mysterious ways.

What everybody needs to know is that God’s simple plan for our lives and our futures is made crystal clear – we all need a relationship with Jesus Christ. HE is the mystery. HE is God’s plan. HE is God’s purpose. We know God’s will by knowing HIM. We receive God’s power by getting closer to HIM. Want to know God? Know Jesus. It’s that simple.

The question is really, have you placed your faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone? Have you made the decision to receive Him and begin a relationship with Him?
