Today is the last day of the year. Do you have your party stuff ready? Are you staying up until midnight to celebrate? Everybody is so excited for the new beginning, for the fresh start, that the new year has to offer. As you end this year and start another, let God give you his blessings. (This blessing from Numbers 6:24-26 is the same blessing that the priests gave to the Israelites five thousand years ago, and it still applies today.)
“The Lord will bless you and watch over you.”
God the Father guards, shelters, and protects you. He pays attention to your spiritual protection.
“The Lord will smile on you and be kind to you.”
God the Son’s face lights up when he sees you, and your face reflects that joy. He lovingly meets your heart’s needs.
“The Lord will look on you with favor and give you peace.”
God the Holy Spirit lives inside of you, blessing you and giving you the security that comes from knowing you are always loved.
This is what’s going to make next year a happy new year.
