Putting the Pieces Together

By the Word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. Psalm 33:6

In Ezekiel 37:7, we see what happened when Ezekiel obeyed God’s command: “So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to bone.”

One thing about this story many people don’t catch is that it was a valley of dry bones … not a valley of skeletons. The bones weren’t together. They were put in order when the breath of God came after Ezekiel prophesied the Word of God. See, the breath of God is God’s Word. This shows that the Word of God brings order to any situation.

Psalm 33:6 says, “By the Word of the Lord the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.” The words “word” and “breath” are used interchangeably here. We also read in Genesis 1:2–3, “The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light.” God spoke and the earth was formed out of nothing. How much more do you think God can put pieces of your life back together if He can create the universe from nothing?

I don’t know if you’ve ever thought about this, but you can’t speak without using your breath. So when God spoke, His breath came out and created what His Word said. The power is in the breath; all Scripture is God-breathed. That means the Bible isn’t just a book of words; it’s beyond the words. God’s Word is His breath and it has power.

When you’re going through a difficulty and you read something in Scripture, God’s power has already been released to do what His Word says because He spoke it. His words bring things into order. Is there any area of your life that needs to come into order today? God’s Word has the power to put things back together. In fact, it holds all things together (Hebrews 1:3).

PRAYER

Father, thank You that without You, my life has no order. I pray that You will bring any area of my life that seems mixed up and disconnected into Your order. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
