Real Love

Happy day after Valentine’s Day! Are you still feeling the love that came from the notes that got handed out in your classroom? Or are you feeling kind of sick because you ate too much of the candy that came with them?

The problem with love here on earth is that it comes and goes. Sometimes it’s great—and some days you can’t tell if it’s here at all. Real love is not found on those little pieces of paper or in the candy you got. (Those things are fun and yummy, though!) God, who is love, gives you a definition of what real love is:

“Love is patient. Love is kind. Love isn’t jealous. It doesn’t sing its own praises. It isn’t arrogant. It isn’t rude. It doesn’t think about itself. It isn’t irritable. It doesn’t keep track of wrongs. It isn’t happy when injustice is done, but it is happy with the truth. Love never stops being patient, never stops believing, never stops hoping, never gives up” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).

This is the kind of love he wants you to share. And you can do it every single day of the year. Can you think of some ways that you can do this?

Chomp on this!

Read the passage again, this time saying God instead of the word love.

Read the passage another time. This time say your name in place of love. Remember that because you get credit for the life Jesus lived, you have a new person inside of you. You are all these things.
