Riding Your Bike

Learning to ride a bike is not easy. You fall down many times, and your parent has to lift you up and put bandages on your scrapes. Your mom or dad runs right next to you, teaching you. It may take days, weeks, or months, but eventually you get stronger and fall fewer times.

Faith in God is like learning to ride a bike. At first you have many doubts and get hurt. God is always next to you, picking you up and teaching you through his Word. As you grow older, you become stronger, fall less, and go the right way. But you still aren’t perfect, and there are obstacles in your way that can still cause you to fall. That is why God always keeps a close watch over you and helps you back up.

We don’t have to be afraid because we know that no matter how many times we fall, God still loves us and will help us back up through his Word and promises. God loves us and has not, and will not, give up on us. We don’t have to be afraid of the future or that God won’t forgive us, because he already has. He promises, “Don’t be afraid, because I am with you. Don’t be intimidated; I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will support you with my victorious right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).

Dear heavenly Father, we know that you love us more than anything else and will always help us back up when we fall. Please help us always trust in you and stay on the right path. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
