Roman Road, Part 7

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. Romans 12:1 NIV

We are saved by grace, not by works. This is such an important point to understand in the Gospel. God does the saving. We do the believing.

Jesus said, however, that “they will be known by their fruits”. When Jesus comes into your heart, you are a new creation. The Bible says the old has gone and the new has come. You are changed. Jesus told Nicodemus that he must be “born again”. If you are a Christian, then your old heart has been changed by a new heart. This should be evidenced by how you live your life, or at least how you desire to live it.

If you are a Christian, then there should be an inner desire to please your Savior. You could never repay Him for what He did for you on the Cross, but you should want to try and please Him. Paul says in today’s verse that the way we do that is to offer ourselves to Him.

Have you done that? If you know you are a Christian, then have you presented yourself before the Lord and said, “Here I am, God. What do you want from me?” There is no greater act of worship, no better way to show your appreciation to Jesus, than to give yourself over to Him.

And, the Bible says that when you do, He will use you in ways you have never imagined possible. In fact, He has already planned out the good works He will have you to do. (Ephesians 2:10)

Are you happy for your salvation? Then ask God how He might use you today!
