Sometimes no matter how much we try to prepare people for coming change, they struggle to grasp the reality. This was the case for Jesus' disciples as the cross drew ever nearer. Jesus tried to reassure them, to remind them of what they knew of Him and His ways. In the same way, as you call people to new ways of thinking, relating, and serving, spend time preparing them as best you can. Honor their questions and concerns; remind them that they are not alone. What change are you leading others to embrace?
Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”—John 14:5-6
Prayer: God, help me as I guide others through changing times. Help me encourage and prepare them appropriately. Let me lead people well, I ask in Jesus' name, amen.
