Single Mom: Need Some Balance?

One of the hardest jobs of every single mother is finding that “sweet spot” of balance. With the load you carry, it often feels virtually impossible since you continually manage kids, career, extended family, church, extracurricular activities.

Here are a few helpful hints.  Maybe one of these will help lighten the load.

Ten Balancing Acts

  1. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you what needs to be cut out of your 24 hour day that is not helping you achieve your goal.
  2. On Sundays determine what is important for the seven days ahead in the areas of family, self, work.
  3. Don’t be shy to ask others for help.
  4. Being still with God every morning does wonders, even if it’s only for ten minutes.  His grace abounds when we make room for it.
  5. Detach yourself slightly from your work environment in order to become more objective.
  6. Take time for yourself and don’t feel guilty.
  7. Buy gift items ahead of time – Make the most of sales and one-time shopping.
  8. Engage your kids to help around the house with age appropriate chores.
  9. Loosen up and laugh – Intentionally rejoice over something.
  10. Keep in mind: Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. And today? Today is a gift.  That’s why we call it “the present.”  Make the most of it!
