The Best True Story Ever

You have rules at home about chores and Internet use. Rules at school tell you when you can talk and where you can run. Rules in your community tell you where you can and cannot skateboard. The last thing kids want are more rules. This is why I think sometimes you don’t want to open the Bible. After all, some of God’s most famous words are The Ten Rules!

When you open up the Bible, yes, there are rules that tell you things to do (and not to do) for your life to go well. But God’s rules are a really small part of his book.

For those who like fairy tales, the Bible tells the real story of the Prince of peace who searches and searches for the one he loves. When he finds her, he rescues her and takes her to a beautiful kingdom with streets of gold and a spectacular castle where they live happily ever after.

For those who might be more into action stories, the Bible tells of a warrior who has rescued captives from the clutches of the Evil One. I saw heaven standing open. There was a white horse, and its rider is named Faithful and True. With integrity he judges and wages war. His eyes are flames of fire. On his head are many crowns” (Revelation 19:11,12).

Open up the Bible today and hear the true story of the One who is powerful and loving, faithful and true, the one who obeyed all the rules so you could be in the eternal victory parade.
