The Courage to Say Yes

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” -- Philippians 4:13

Saying “yes” to a positive challenge is powerful––whether it’s to a new exercise program, friendship, or ministry opportunity. Yet, saying that small, three letter word can also be intimidating. Why? Because many of us fear failure and rejection, while others simply lack motivation and courage.

Think –– what would happen if you said yes to a positive challenge today? Imagine the impact your yes commitment could make in the lives of your family, friends, and community. So, here are three reasons I encourage you to say yes to a positive challenge in your life today.

3 Reasons to Say Yes to a Positive Challenge

  1. The Opportunity for Personal Growth

When you are willing to say yes to a positive challenge in your life, the opportunities for personal growth, spiritually, emotionally, and professionally, are numerous. This is especially true when you know you cannot succeed on your own but must rely on the Lord for help. So, when the Lord calls you to do something, trust and obey Him because He will grow you and help you succeed at that which He has called you to do (Proverbs 16:3).

  1. The Opportunity to Overcome Fear and Insecurity

Saying yes to positive challenges takes courage. But, as you rely on the Lord for help, He will give you the courage you need to overcome fear and insecurity. Ask yourself, “what’s the worst thing that could happen if I take this challenge?” Some of the most brilliant and successful people of all time experienced failure and rejection. So, I encourage you to obey God’s calling on your life, regardless of the risks and take that positive challenge today (Deuteronomy 31:6).

  1. The Opportunity to Meet New People

You have the opportunity to learn something from each new person you met. Listen to their opinions and perspectives, and you will grow as a person by learning from them (Proverbs 27:17). As you interact with new people, you will also have the opportunity to enhance your communication skills and build new friendships. I would have never dreamed I would make so many wonderful friends through Courage For Life. So, embrace the courage to take on positive challenges, because you never know where a simple “yes” may lead you.
