The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it (John 1:5).
I'm at Daddy's to celebrate Thanksgiving with more than 40 members of my family! I slipped out of bed this morning and went downstairs to the living room in order to have a few quiet minutes with The Lord. But just as I settled into the chair with Bible, notebook and coffee, I heard little footsteps crossing the floor. My oldest granddaughter, Bell, had come to join me. As we talked softly, our attention turned to the big picture window and the early morning sunrise taking place over the opposite mountain ridge. I told Bell it was a beautiful display of God's glory in Jesus. That He is the Light who came into the darkness of the world's sin and rebellion and ignorance and evil and pain and suffering, but to this day the darkness has not overcome Him! And it never will! The darkness does not put out the Light. Instead, the Light turns the darkness into day!
