I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power. Ephesians 3:7
Q: At what moment in our faith walk do we become God’s messengers?
- When we feel confident that we know just what to say and when we say it.
- When we feel qualified in our understanding of Scripture and salvation.
- When we have ample time in our schedule to share the message.
- When we become a child of God.
A: Regardless of how you feel or what this looks like in your life, the answer is 4! When we receive the Message, God makes us His messengers!
It’s by God’s grace and the working of His power at our conversion that we become His messengers and servants of the gospel. Paul said, “By God’s grace and mighty power, I have been given the privilege of serving him by spreading this Good News” (Ephesians 3:7, NLT).
Bringing the message is our privilege and Jesus’ command! In The Great Commission, Jesus instructs His disciples to make disciples (Matthew 28:19-20), and He tells His followers, to fish for followers (Matthew 4:19). Out of gratitude for the gift of God’s grace, we share God’s grace!
It is by God’s grace that we have been saved and out of the sufficiency of His grace that we are made competent as His messengers. Our competency, sufficiency, and ability come from Him. God makes the incompetent competent, the deficient sufficient, and the helpless and hopeless able!
Paul understood this. It was his story! God made the less than the least of all the Lord’s people (that’s how Paul described himself!) competent to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ (2 Corinthians 3:4-6, Ephesians 3:8).
He does the same for you and me! God made you _____________________ (how would you describe your greatest weakness as His messenger?) competent, sufficient, and able to bring His message to GEMS girls, their families, and ________________________.
