The Servant of All

I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them. (John 13:15-17 NIV)

Okay, start washing those feet! Jesus said too!

Not really. What Jesus really said was to start doing as He does. Start humbling yourself to serve others. Start allowing Christ to lift you up! Start remembering the power you have in Christ, that you came from Him, and that one day He will come to take you Home! Jesus was encouraging us to love others like He loves us!

Have you looked around your church lately? Are there people who serve without recognition? In my church, some that do the most never seem to get noticed. They serve out of a love and devotion to Christ, not asking for anything in return. Oh, they serve for appreciation, but not for the appreciation of man. They want the satisfaction of knowing that Christ is pleased with their work.

Do you have a servant's heart? Do you give expecting nothing in return? Are you upset when they leave your name out of the recognition list, or do you strive to give unnoticed? Jesus gave all, humbling Himself to be a servant, allowing glory to go to the Father, who in turn, exalted Christ above every name. As you and I faithfully serve, seeking no glory of our own, God will bless us and exalt us beyond our imagination.

The greatest among you shall be the servant of all!
