Time to Brag

When some other kid tells you about her awesome new house with a pool, you wish you had a pool. When you hear about the laser tag birthday party, you wish you had been invited. You’d be really mad if your brother told you he got to go out for ice cream while you had your trumpet lesson.

You get jealous when other people get good things; you wish you had them too. Face it; nobody wants to listen to someone else brag.

In Psalm 106, King David asked for good things from God: “Remember me, O Lord, when you show favor to your people. Come to help me with your salvation so that I may see the prosperity of your chosen ones, find joy in our people’s happiness, and brag with the people who belong to you” (verses 4,5).

David was asking God to show favor to him, to allow him to see all the ways God was blessing the people with good things and happiness. David wanted to be able to brag with all the believers about how good their God was.

As part of God’s family, you ask God to be good to you and then you can brag about his blessings. When you brag, you tell people about all the good things that come from being in his family. Pray then that others get a little jealous and want to learn how they can be part of God’s family. Then tell them, so they can brag with you.
