Trust in God

Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, things just don’t seem to go your way. You can’t hit a shot in basketball or throw a strike in baseball. You have to start your art project over six times. It might be about more serious things. No matter how often you ask the teacher for help, it still just doesn’t make sense. Your parents keep fighting. You try to get your parents to listen to your side of the story, but they just don’t get it.

It’s hard not to get discouraged. It’s hard not to feel alone. It’s hard not to be scared.

When that happens, God wants you to “be strong and courageous! Don’t tremble or be terrified, because the LORD your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).

Wherever you go, whether it’s church or across the country, God will be with you wherever you go and whatever you’re doing. Whatever you’re going through, whether it’s problems with your friends, family, or school, he is with you. He uses everything that happens in your life to make your faith stronger so you grow closer to him. His strength will make you strong. His power makes you courageous. His hope helps you not be discouraged.

Chomp on this!

What things in your life make you feel scared?

What discourages you?

How does today’s passage help you face those things?
