LET YOUR UNFAILING LOVE SURROUND US, LORD, FOR OUR HOPE IS IN YOU ALONE. — PSALM 33:22
We hope that our sports team will win the big game and that Starbucks will bring back its hazelnut macchiato. We also hope that our jobs will continue to fulfill us and pay our bills and that God will answer a heartfelt prayer with a long-awaited yes.
Whatever we're hoping for, it's easy to think that God doesn't care about the details of our lives. However, just as a parent cares about everything that happens to her child, so God longs to share every part of our day. Why not talk to Him about all our needs and desires?
As we sip our morning coffee, we can jot down thanks for morning blessings such as flavored creamers and hot water for our shower. While we do our jobs, we can regularly bring our concerns (and co-workers) before God's throne. We could keep scriptures scribbled on Post-it notes in our cubicle—or on our desk—to remind us to think with God's thoughts throughout the day, instead of falling back on worldly patterns. When we lay our head on the pillow at night, we can voice the answered prayers which grace our lives, drifting off to sleep in gratitude at God's unfailing love.
Those small, simple actions add up to a day filled with hope and gratitude. . .and those days add up to a life well-lived.
LET'S PRAY:
Father God, thank You for Your unfailing love. Thinking on that love, which I haven't earned and can't repay, causes me to fall to my knees in hope, gratitude, and joy. Amen.
