Walking in His Word

When Roseline understood, through Scripture, that God was her “marvelous father,” it changed the way she viewed him and lived her life.

When Roseline was young, she was extremely close to her father. They would plant plantains and go on walks together. He was proud of her, because she was his first-born daughter.

But when Roseline turned nine, her father died. For the next few years, Roseline lived with her grandmother and then with two different aunts.

When Roseline was fourteen, she moved to the city of Doula. Life was tough there and Roseline struggled to pay for her school fees by herself. Under the influence of her friends, she turned to a life of prostitution. But Roseline hated what she was doing to herself and her body. She began to feel alone and wonder what kind of life she was living.

Roseline’s grandmother soon decided that she should return to their village. And that’s when Roseline heard the story of Jesus in her mother tongue. Hearing about Jesus changed the way Roseline was living her life.

“When I studied the Bible, I understood how a child of God should walk,” Roseline says. “So now I go to church. I go to church meetings. I study my Bible. I pray before I go to bed.”

Now, Roseline says that she sees God as her “marvelous father.”

“If you walk in his Word, you will see the glory of God,” Roseline says. “He is a father who takes care of the children who follow his Word. God is faithful. He is a God who does not remember your past. If you follow him, he’ll forgive everything you’ve done. He watches over his children. And since I am his child, I am free to serve him.”
