What Do You Really Need in Life?

Every person is an amazing creation complete with specific talents, desires and needs. But there are also a few “universal” needs that we all share – necessities in life.

We all need to be able to say: “I matter.” But lots of people struggle with a horribly, disfigured self-image that’s robbing them of their joy.

Everyone has the need to “fit in” somewhere. Its part of the happiness we all want to experience.

And we all need to be confident that we can accomplish what God puts in front of us. Lacking confidence in God’s power and provision in our lives can be demoralizing. But we have access to all the power we need through the Holy Spirit.

God responds to these needs at the cross. We matter because Jesus paid a huge price for our salvation. Sometimes we forget that God cares about us as individuals. Jesus tells a parable about a lost sheep in the book of Luke that’s a great reminder.

“If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t stayed away!” (15:3-7 NLT)

God’s love is so great for every person that he searches for each one and celebrates when they are found!

Finally we belong because we’re part of God’s family. Check out John 1:12. “But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.” It’s amazing that we can be a part of God’s forever family! Nothing matters more than being a child of the King of kings!

Trust God to make you the complete person he designed you to be.
