What Is a Yielded Heart?

That is a good question.  It has taken me decades looking for the answer. My stubbornness and rebellion sent me back to square one before I got it. I kept moving one step forward and twenty backwards.  The truth was I didn’t really know Him.

All I needed was to trust Him completely.

A yielded heart knows, loves, trusts and obeys Him faithfully.

Now He is so real to me, I am surprised by His touch. In the yielding something truly spiritual happens. It's hard to find the words to express it, but its extremely real - an experience with changing power.

Its a sixth sense — the place where the soul is touched by the Living God. It is a place of awe, beauty and so much more. It is a knowing place where a yielded heart,  opened Word and giving God meet together in companionship.

I’ve learned so much in the yielding. I’ve cried with Him in my losses. I’ve rebelled against His correction with “Not again?” I’ve even gotten angry my  “humanness” separated us. We’ve laughed together and whispered under the shadow of His protective arms.  I’ve been so scared I wanted to run away from the power of His presence. I confess, too, that I’ve gotten greedy for more and overwhelmed when the more flooded my soul.

But most of the time my heart just burns with in me because of who He is.

This sixth sense yields to His touch with open eyes, unclogged ears, a clear mind and soft heart — a yielded heart.

He’s never changed in His truth, in His attributes, or in His attitude. I’m grateful for His persistent tenderness toward me as He binds our hearts together in the power of a yielding. He has begun a good work in me and I will carry it to completion.

This sixth sense, burning heart and yielding heart preserves us in a fallen world.

Corrie ten Boom found it in the deepest darkest Nazi Concentration Camp.

The Persecuted Church finds it in steadfast faith.
We can find it too in the secret place of fellowship with Him.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.
