Where Do You Go From Here?

Matthew 12:48-50
48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? 49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! 50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Psalms 68:6
God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

Many of you pray specifically over the Modern Orphan. You feel compassion towards the circumstances some children face. Perhaps you have bumped up against the injustice of little kids who have no one to stand up for them. Perhaps your conscience has been pricked and your heart has been moved. I urge you to use this time of prayer by asking God what your next right steps should be.

For some of you, God may be whispering the idea of adoption into your heart and your mind. For others, you may feel called to investigate what you can do for foster children right in your community. Other ideas may be to undertake a mission trip to work directly with children across the globe who need to hear how very much Jesus loves them. You also may find that you are called to support families that are called to undertake these other avenues in tangible ways.

However God has spoken to you, ask Him for courage to walk forward in obedience and for Him to direct your next right steps. Jesus describes His family members as those who do God’s will in Matthew 12:48-50, so if you fill called to adopt according to His will, know that God is working in and through you, and know that Jesus views you as a family member! God says that He “sets the lonely in families” in Psalm 68:6.

Pray this truth over every child that needs and deserves a Godly family to pour into his or her life for a season or for forever. And feel confident that the God who loves you and each of them hears your prayers. Amen and Amen!
