How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! 1 John 3:1 NIV
Who am I? Well, glad you asked. I’m a child of God.
Not that I deserved it. I really didn’t. Not that I did anything to earn that love. I didn’t. But God, who is rich in mercy and grace, extended His love to me through His Son, Jesus Christ. He loved me, according to the Bible, from the beginning of time, before I was in my mother’s womb. He desired a relationship with me, so He sought me out and made Himself known to me.
I responded to that call on my life! That’s it. That’s all I did. I said “Yes, Lord” to His offer of salvation. I accepted the free gift of His Son. And that’s why I am a child of God.
And, being a child of God means I have privilege. I am on Heaven’s “A List”. I am invited to the royal table, to participating in all the royal functions because I am a member of the royal family. I have an eternal estate, kept secure for me until I reach my final destination. I am working now to prepare for that place. It’s certainly a lot easier when I am secure in my position within the family.
What about you? Who are you? Who is your family? Has God blessed you? Has God extended to you the call of salvation? Have you accepted His call? Are you living your life in appreciation and respect for that call? Are you pressing on to win the prize for which Christ has called you Heavenward? Are you excited about the feast we will enjoy for all eternity?
