Who, Me?

Ephesians 3:8-10 (MSG)

And so here I am, preaching and writing about things that are way over my head, the inexhaustible riches and generosity of Christ. My task is to bring out in the open and make plain what God, who created all this in the first place, has been doing in secret and behind the scenes all along. Through followers of Jesus like you gathered in churches, this extraordinary plan of God is becoming known and talked about even among the angels!

The theology behind today’s passage is too much to tackle in one short devotional, but the application is not. Without a doubt, the apostle Paul was a brilliant man, but don’t let that be a stumbling block as to YOUR involvement in the advancement of God’s Kingdom. Setting Paul aside for a moment, the rest of the New Testament authors were ordinary men, which teaches us that God uses both the brilliant and the common to advance His plan (see 1 Cor 1:26).

The plan of salvation is extraordinarily simple, and even a child can explain it well enough to be understood. The power is not in the presenter, but in the truth that is being presented. Many Christians sideline themselves thinking that they are not up to the task of sharing the Gospel, but that is a lie from the pit of hell and it smells like smoke! The challenge is not our proficiency, but our obedience.

God has a role for you to play on the field of battle for the souls of men. Yes, you! Now get off the bench and into the game, Christian!
