YOU Are for the Church

There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.

A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 (NLT)

Every person has been given spiritual gifts. Did you know that? YOU are filled with the power of God and He has deposited spiritual gifts within you. You might not see them as such because you’re not ‘in the ministry’ as a pastor, apostle, or evangelist, but if you read the entire chapter of 1 Corinthians 12, you’ll see there are many different kinds of spiritual gifts and that everyone has been given some.

Here’s why many Christians don’t know the depth of their gifts or understand how to operate in them: Spiritual gifts are given to each of us so we can help each other. In other words, we have been given these gifts so we can minister to people in and through the church. There are, in fact, only two reasons spiritual gifts flow: 1) to meet the needs of the church, and 2) to meet the needs of our community through outreach from the church. In order for YOU to flow freely and dynamically in your gifts, you must be connected to the church.

Jesus is all about building a thriving church, and when you are engrafted into a local church, YOU will begin to thrive. The flow of His Spirit that rushes through His Body becomes part of your life, and your spiritual gifts will begin to flourish. You’ll begin to realize the depths of your gifts as you serve and give to others. In addition, as you get into the creative flow of God, you’ll discover gifts that you never imagined resided on the inside of you!

YOU will find your purpose, fulfillment, and deep satisfaction when you are serving and giving to the Body of Christ and reaching out to those in your world who are lost. This is the perfect expression of the YOU God created you to be.

BELIEVE IT

Today read through the entire chapter of 1 Corinthians 12, and meditate on those truths. Ask God to speak to your heart so you can be encouraged in the gifts you already know you possess and to be quickened to new ways of serving others.

SAY IT

Father, I believe You have deposited spiritual gifts in me. Thank You for giving me the power and desire to use those gifts for the benefit of others. And I believe as I reach out with my gifts, I will experience Your blessing flowing in my life.
